
We made fossils using salt dough. We let these dry for a few days and the fossil was formed. Our fossils were impressions of once living things. You can find fossils of dinosaur bones from a long long time ago but dinosaurs are now extinct.
Children used different materials to collage a Lion. The children described the lion as the “king of the forest”.
This week we have been learning about numbers beyond 10. We can use the numicon to show these numbers
This terms topic is growing, as part of topic our focus this week is Jack and the Beanstalk. Children created a beanstalk using tissue paper and stamped their hand as a flag.
We had a lovely visit from Guide Dogs UK, we enjoyed meeting Saber and learning all about guide dogs and how they can help others.
We enjoyed dressing up as our favourite characters for World Book Day!

We worked together to make icing so we could decorate our own biscuits.
We had a visit from the Police who talked to us all about their job and how they help us.
We enjoyed a Yoga session with Anna from Tatty Bumpkin where we experimented with different yoga poses. We found it all very relaxing.

We had an inspirational visit to the Hepworth Gallery Wakefield. We enjoyed looking at all the different mediums of art.
We enjoyed going shopping for Strawberries, we then covered them in melted chocolate, they were yummy!
Some EYFS children took an exciting trip to Build A Bear at the White Rose Centre. They enjoyed riding on the bus, picking their own bear and an outfit and watching the bear being built.
Saplings enjoyed a hands on pottery session where they are able to paint their own mugs and plates.
We enjoyed squeezing our own lemons to make lemonade. We added dilute lemon juice to make it taste sweeter.
We have been learning to name planets. To help us remember them we took our learning outside and used chalk to draw and label planets.
We made chocolate brownies, they smelt and tasted delicious.
To celebrate Chinese New Year we tried some new Chinese Food. We thought it was yummy!
We used the windy weather to our advantage and made kites using bin liners and strings. This was simple but a very fun activity.
Saplings enjoyed visiting a local florist to learn all about what the job role entails. They were all lucky enough to receive their own flower to take home!
We enjoyed visiting the chickens.
We made pizzas using baguettes, tomato puree and cheese. They tasted scrumptious!

For our science lessons we have been learning all about Neil Armstrong.
We had fun exploring our outdoor gym.

We have been developing our life skills by making sandwiches independently.
We have been using the computers to practise our ICT skills.
We have been using our knowledge of phonics to write shopping lists.
We enjoyed mixing all the ingredients we had bought from the shop together to make delicious rice crispy buns!
Introducing the newest member to Saplings class…. Storm the Rabbit!
Before the new rabbit arrived, we needed to set up her new house all ready for her. She needs water, sawdust to sleep on and hay to nibble on. We also made sure she had lots of toys to play with!
This week, Saplings have been focusing on the numbers 6,7 and 8. We have learnt how to recognise 6,7 and 8 in different forms and then progressed on partitioning these numbers.
EYFS had a nice surprise when Santa came to visit them. They were all on the nice list and were given a present each!

Amazing writing in EYFS this week as we begin our learning around Remembrance day.
Saplings used black and red icing to decorate biscuits in the form of poppies to celebrating Remembrance Day.
We used biscuits and icing to practise writing the letter ‘A’.
We have been learning about the numbers 1, 2 and 3 and how the numbers increase and get bigger.
We have been taking part in some Role Play by hiding and showing our emotions of how we would feel in the war.
Saplings enjoyed their Halloween Party, it was a lovely way to finish off this half term.
This week, Saplings ventured up to the computer suite for their first computing session. The children were shocked by the mouse and automatically thought the screen was a touch screen.
A huge thank you to all our grandparents who spent the afternoon in early years for National Grandparent Day.
Saplings used natural materials such as leaves, twigs, grass and pebbles to make clay faces.
Saplings have loved doing dough disco this week. The actions and play dough strengthen the muscles in our fingers to help with our letter formation and writing.
Our topic this term is ‘All about me’. As part of this topic, children need to identify different features of their face. We made play dough faces and used different materials to represent different features.
Our new starters enjoyed an outdoor session in our Forest School where they toasted marshmallows to make a Smore. This was the perfect opportunity for the children to meet with each other and establish relationships.
