We had a ROARsome trip to Yorkshire Wildlife Park. It was a beautiful, sunny day and we saw lots of interesting animals. One of our highlights was definitely having an ice-lolly in the shade!
Saplings have now graduated from Early Years and are ready to begin their new journeys in KS1. We are very proud of you all!
To celebrate the hard work we have been doing around Fairy Tale’s we dress up as our favourite characters.
Following on from reading The Gingerbread man, the children all had the opportunity to decorate their own gingerbread man. We used the skills of squeezing and spreading to help us.
We have enjoyed learning in our outdoor provision in the sunshine this week.
We had lots of fun in Blackpool. We had a picnic on the front, bought some treats from the gift shop and stood on the steps so the sea could splash us!
We have had a go at making our own freshly squeezed orange juice. We cut our own oranges, before then squeezing the juice and finally being able to test the fresh juice.
Handwriting is a big focus in early years this week. This child has amazed us all with the progress in his handwriting, with clear ascenders and descenders. A fantastic end to his story. Can’t wait to see the full story written up with this beautiful handwriting.
In maths the children have been exploring different shapes, and spatial reasoning. They understood that some shapes can be put together to make other shapes, for example if you combine two triangles together, you create a square.
Saplings took it in turns to spend time at Forest School recently. They used their imaginations to think of different uses for a stick, they created their own natural art, explored shadows, played a game of Hide and Seek and participated in some forest bathing, where the children laid down, closed their eyes and listened to the sounds around them.
We took park in Eid activities such as creating our own Henna patterns. We also made Eid cards for our families.
Saplings have really enjoyed making cucumber sandwiches independently this week.
We really enjoyed our walk to Lidl to buy some shopping.
We enjoyed taking part in Maypole dancing, this was a new experience for us.
We took part in tasting different fruit and vegetables.
We have enjoyed tasting delicious pizzas!
We all enjoyed making our own mini pizzas! We were looking forward to tasting them.
This week we have been ordering and representing numbers to 20.
We baked some delicious chocolate chip cookies!
Saplings were really excited to see that the Mobile Farm had come to visit! They had fun learning all about the animals and enjoyed a hands on farming experience.
We enjoyed holding the Ducklings for the first time, we were very brave!

To celebrate comic relief, we decorating biscuits with red icing.
Once the ducklings had hatched it was time to move them from their incubator. Now we can watch them running around and we can hear them more clearly.
It wasn’t long before the eggs hatched and we discovered that inside them were baby Ducklings!
Saplings had a lovely surprise this week, eggs had been delivered! We had a go at writing what we thought would be inside them.

We kicked off our Reading Month by celebrating world book day! The children dressed up as their favourite character and were challenged to be caught reading in a strange place. We are looking forward to celebrating reading throughout the rest of March.
Look at these fantastic sheep buns made by one of our pupils for their creative homework! They look delicious.
We challenged the children to spend time with their families and be away from the computer screen. To do this one of our children made a delicious pizza!
We really enjoyed our Christmas dinner it was delicious. One of the best parts was getting to pull a Christmas cracker.
Early Years children were very excited to receive a zoom call from Santa in the North Pole. We enjoyed chatting to Santa and found out that even Rex the Tortoise was on the good list!
We were all on Santa’s good list and each received a present from him. We can’t wait to open them!
We have had an amazing week, our Saplings have been very busy participating in our seasonal festivities.
for anti bullying week, our saplings have been thinking about our Carlton value kindness, and how this will prevent bullying taking place. We pledged we would be kind to one another.
To celebrate World science day, Early years conducted a dunking biscuits experiment. We tested to see which was the best biscuit for Mrs Mirtza who liked soggy biscuits. The children made their predictions and then dunked each biscuit in cold water to find the soggiest biscuit.
In Early years, we are still working hard on writing our names. Here the children are independently practicing in the provision.
We have been learning all about remembrance day. To remember the brave soldiers who lost their lives we made yummy poppy biscuits, created fantastic art work and did some beautiful writing.
This week the children used the leaves they had collected on their autumn walk to create Autumn crowns.
To celebrate Black History Month we have been learning all about Rosa Parks.
We enjoyed making rice crispy buns for our Macmillan Cake Away.
This week, Saplings celebrated Miss Hewitt’s birthday. Thank you to the children and parents for all the kind words and presents.
