We look forward to working with you this year.
We have been exploring our new topic Location, location by exploring different locations and non European countries like Pakistan. We learnt about the food, clothes, transport, education and languages
In Year 2 we have been enjoying learning how to measure. We particularly enjoyed measuring in milliliters and litres using measuring jugs
An interesting investigation to discover what plants need to grow successfully. Here are our results so far.

Year two are learning about homes and houses, we took a learning walk around the local area to spot the different kinds of buildings we have.
Year two are learning about plants, we planted bulbs and seeds and will be monitoring the growth. We will be spotting differences between bulbs and seeds.
We enjoyed dressing up as our favourite characters for World Book Day!
The year four children came to read to the year two and even listened to the year two children reading! They had lots of conversations around their favourite books.
Children have been having turns reading and sharing their favourite books in Year two. We have been listening very carefully to each other.
We have enjoyed learning about shapes! We were able to sort shapes into different groups.
We have been writing using different tenses. Here we are sorting different sentences into past and present tense.
This week we have been redrafting our writing in English. We wrote instructions on how to create habitats for our very own creatures. We explored instruction writing and all the language features and text structures instructions should have.
Children in year two made their very own dragon puppets to celebrate Chinese New Year. Dragons are an important part of the Chinese New Year lantern festival where dragon dances are performed.
Year two have been learning all about the ukulele, we have enjoyed playing and exploring this super instrument.
Some children in Year two have been part of the bikeability sessions. Children have enjoyed learning to ride balance bikes and built their confidence in riding bikes..
In science we have been learning about Animals including humans. Children matched animals to their babies and learnt the different names baby animals are called.
Children in Year 2 enjoy bringing in creations and extra work they do at home to show their friends! Here we have a bog baby that has been made with different materials and some paper plate unicorns.
We loved exploring who has left footprints in our classroom! Is it the Bog Baby. What do you think?
In music we enjoy learning to write music and play instruments!
In PE we practised our agility, balance and coordination skills! We used interesting equipment such as balloons and scarves! We can’t wait to try these skills at home!
Children have been enjoying learning music and learning about the different music notes.
We loved all the presents Santa Claus brought for us!
A huge well done to our children for their fantastic nativity performance. They have all worked so hard, also a huge thank you to the parents who came to watch and support their children.
We have enjoyed the festivities over the past couple of weeks. We had our Christmas Dinner, attended the Christmas Fair, wore our Christmas jumpers and dressed up as elves!
Children have enjoyed taking part in music this half term. They have been practising how to play the Xylophone.
In art we looked at an artist called Syed Haider Raza, we used our painting skills to recreate his work in our own styles.
For anti bullying week we filled cups with all of the kind things we do.
In Maths we have been learning to add two digit numbers by partitioning. This has been a fun way to learn how to add two digit numbers. We also used Dienes and drew pictures to help us.
For world science day children in year 2 created a class invention that could benefit people. We came up with the idea of creating an ibuild. Which allows builders to draw buildings onto a device and when they push a button the building will appear! have a look at our designs.

We enjoyed celebrating and raising awareness for Children in Need!
Year 2 children enjoyed learning about Diwali and celebrated by making their own paper diya lamps and rangoli patterns. We also wrote our own acrostic poems all about the festival of Diwali.
Year 2 enjoyed investigating which material would be the most suitable for a toy car to travel on. What are your predictions?
We have been learning about black history month and focused on how Rosa Parks made a difference.
This term Year 2 are immersing themselves into a new text. They started their lesson with looking at objects and talking about who the objects might belong to and why they might be significant.
In English this term we looked at the story ‘A River’ . We wrote circular narratives and a letter to Tom warning him about some of the dangers he may face on his journey.
Year 2 have been practicing their drawing skills and learning how to shade and use tone in their work.
We celebrated Harvest my making some beautiful art using Autumn leaves.
We got creative with leaves and bark for Outdoor Classroom Day and made some fantastic leaf and tree rubbings.

Our children have really enjoyed their first week back at school. They have been very excited about wearing our new school uniform.
