To finish off a month of celebrating reading, Year 5 enjoyed a story around the campfire.

Year 5 used excellent writing skills to write a letter asking for advice.
Look at this fantastic writing about the Holocaust. We are pleased how our children transferred research skills taught in English into topic.
We kicked off our Reading Month by celebrating world book day! The children dressed up as their favourite character and were challenged to be caught reading in a strange place. We are looking forward to celebrating reading throughout the rest of March.
One of our Year 5 pupils did a fantastic job at completing the challenge of getting active and going for a walk. Welldone, it looks like you had lots of fun!

We enjoyed taking part in our National Christmas Jumper Day. We reflected on why it’s important to think of others whilst we celebrate together.
We produced fantastic pieces of writing to explain why we celebrate Children in Need.
We celebrated the importance of Diwali by writing our own Diwali poems.
We made Remembrance day silhouettes, we have really enjoyed thinking about those soldiers who made huge sacrifices for us.
We worked hard to write our own diary entries for Chapter 2 of Goodnight Mr Tom. We are really enjoying this book at the moment!
Year 5 have been producing fantastic maths work and some children were recognised in our achievement assembly because of this. Welldone!
We really enjoyed decorating buns in class to raise money and awareness for the Macmillan charity.
We have been creating our own bar charts and analysing data using various calculations. We have produced some amazing work!
We have started to look at Newspaper articles this week. We located and identified structural and language features. We are really proud of the way the children are able to explain the purpose of each feature. Keep up the good work year 5!
