In Year 6, we have had a great start to the year. The children have settled in to Year 6 quickly and are already helping each other with their learning and challenging themselves.

Some of our Year 6 children had the oppurtunity to take part in the World Trail project at Bagshaw Museum.

They got a chance to explore the museum to gather some ideas and inspiration before starting their art pieces.

Year 6 Trees have been busy researching Italy for European Day of Languages! From famous landmarks to delicious food and fascinating facts, they created fantastic factfiles to celebrate the culture and language of Italy.

They also had a fantastic time taste-testing delicious Italian food, from pasta and pizza to cheesy bread, our young food critics explored Italy with their taste buds.

Year 6 shared their favourite poems and nursery rhymes with our Reception children for National Poetry Day.  They then helped the children spot rhyming words with some word games.

They also marked the day by writing their own powerful poem, capturing voices, ideas, and creativity beyond their years.

Today in Year 6 we have been celebrating World Mental Health Day. It’s a day to learn about how we feel, talk about our emotions, and support each other. Year 6 Trees have been learning that it’s okay to not be okay—and that talking helps.

We have also been exploring our emotions with this brilliant "Feelings Matter" worksheet! From spotting feelings to learning how to calm down and speak kindly to ourselves, we are building emotional awareness and resilience every day.

Our Black History Showcase 2025 was a success again!

Today at Carlton, Year 6 children lit up the stage with pride and purpose, celebrating Black History and honoring powerful Black leaders who’ve shaped our world. From art to poetry, they brought history to life!

The children made us very proud by supporting the younger years to showcase their work and research too.

Well done, Year 6!

-Image Image Our JLT team spent some time with our Modeshift partners, looking at the need to rethink how we move — reducing driving, reimagining parking, and building a more sustainable future for all.
- Three children in blue school uniforms stand in front of a classroom display board titled Living Things and Habitats with images of Charles Darwin plants and animals including butterflies and jellyfish drawings. The girl on the left wears a headscarf and holds a book titled World with a jellyfish drawing. The boy in the center holds a poster about jellyfish facts. The girl on the right wears a headscarf and holds a blue paper with an octopus drawing. Wooden shelves and educational posters are visible in the background. Our Year 6 Trees have enjoyed exploring the fascinating world of jellyfish for Jellyfish Day (3rd Nov). They investigated these amazing sea creatures and shared some incredible facts. Well done, Year 6!

Today our Year 6 Trees took time to reflect for Remembrance Day. They created beautiful poppy art, wrote thoughtful poems, and learned about the bravery and sacrifice of those who served.

They also took part in a special Remembrance Assembly with the Royal British Legion and the National Literacy Trust. A thoughtful event helping us reflect on courage, sacrifice, and remembrance and observed a two minute silence in honour of all who have served and sacrificed. We will remember them.

Image Image Some of our children visited a local care home today to recite poetry for Remembrance Day. The children listened intently as residents shared their wartime memories and memorabilia which was a truly special moment of learning, respect and remembrance.
Image We have been researching what diabetes is and how we can support people who live with it. Remember healthy eating, staying active, and kindness make a difference.
