Admissions for Primary and Middle School Place

Children can start in Reception at primary school from the September after their fourth birthday. However, by law children don’t have to start school until the beginning of the term after their fifth birthday.

The Table below shows you when you are able to apply for a school place for your child.

You can apply online for a primary school or middle school place between 1 September 2023 and 15 January 2024.

Applying later than this is considered a late application unless in Kirklees judgement there are significant and exceptional reasons for it not being received on time.

The responsibility for admission to a reception place rests with the Local Authority.

The Published Admission Number (PAN) is the maximum number of children Kirklees proposes to admit.  Normally, children will not be refused until that number is reached.

If your child was born between 1 September 2019 and 31 August 2020, then they will start school in September 2024.  Please apply online at between 1 September 2023 and 15 January 2024.

Guidance for applying for a Reception place can be found by clicking this link to the local authority website here.

You can apply for a September 2024  place at our school by completing the online form here.

Information about how to apply will be available here, at all Kirklees primary schools, childcare and early years settings and Kirklees front line service points.

Applications can be made from this date. All applications must be made online.

 15 JANUARY 2024

This is the closing date for applications. Remember that a late application can severely reduce your chances of obtaining a place at your preferred school.

16 APRIL 2024

Parents/carers can log on to the Kirklees parent portal from 00:30 am to see their offer of a school place and an email offer will be sent during the day to the email address the parent/carer used when submitting their application.

If your child is already attending a school but wants to transfer, you will need to complete an 'In-Year Common Application Form (ICAF).'  Please click the attachment or link below for guidance  on how to complete the application form and information about what will happen next.

When appealing it is important for you to stay within any timetable given for your appeal process. You must state all the information on which your appeal is based in your written statement of appeal. If you miss the last date to ask for an appeal it may result in a delay in hearing your appeal.
